Chapter 4: Stephen and Sarah’s Children born in England

Section 4.3: Evelyn Divine Carr (06 Jul 1905 to 21 June 1961)

On 06 Jul 1905 in Spennymoor, Durham, England, Evelyn Divine Carr was born to Stephen and Sarah (Catterall) Carr. Evelyn was better known has Eva to her family members. She left for Canada when she was about 6 years old. She then went to USA when she was around 8 years old. She experienced the same stuff has her sister Hannah Bell and Elizabeth Leah did. The death of a sister would have been a very hard thing to handle at the age of 6. I wonder if she understood why her dad kept leaving the family. This must have been hard to comprehend. According to her border crossing card, she had brown hair and blue eyes.

In the 1930 Census, Eva and Emmit Hornbeck is living in Bellaire, Belmont, Ohio, USA. I’m not for sure why the two older children weren’t listed in the household. Maybe whoever answered the questions, misunderstood and thought (s)he was suppose to list the adults living there. There is a roomer named Robert Milligan -- age 65 living with them. I believe Emmit’s mom Mary Milligan is living next-door. I also think that this Robert Milligan is Samuel Milligan’s (Emmit’s step dad) dad.

In the 1940 census, Eva and Emmit Hornbeck is living in Bellaire, Belmont, Ohio, USA. Thomas Lee, Richard, and Ida Mae was all living in the household this time. Eva gave the info and stated that her and her husband was living at the same house, but the kids were living at the same place in 1935. So many the children weren't living with them in the 1930 census either? So many questions so little time.
